Whether you love it or hate it Battersea people, Valentine’s Day is almost upon us. And if you want to do something for V day but aren’t quite sure what, we’re here to help: check out some of the events happening in Battersea during the lead up to Valentine’s and the big day itself below.

If you're a keen bean and want your Valentine’s celebrations to start tonight, The Merchant Pub on Battersea Rise is hosting an event called ‘Are you Game 2 Date?’ The event invites singles to mingle and play pub games. Pop along anytime from 7pm.

Fast forward to 13th February now  - for those of you blessed with energy and stamina, or if you simply enjoy running and fundraising, the 10K 'Valentines Love Run' could be for you. The run takes place in Battersea Park at 11am this coming Saturday. To take part costs £25 and all proceeds will go to the Action Duchenne charity, which raises money for boys suffering from the muscle wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Register for the 'Valentines Love Run' by clicking on the link.

As for V day itself, the Peacock Bar in Clapham Junction will be holding a dinner and dance you might wish to attend. Entitled ‘A Hollywood Romance Valentine Day Dinner’, this event promises buffet food, live music, tunes from the seventies, eighties and nineties and a Hollywood theme. To reserve your place, please call 020 7223 9633 or email bookings@the-peacock-bar.co.uk.

A quiet, romantic Valentine’s Day option is to dine at the Thai on the River restaurant in Battersea Village. Treat your partner, or let your partner treat you to a four course set menu for £49.50 at this Thai restaurant which boasts fantastic views of the Thames. Ring 020 79246090 or email info@thaiontheriver.com to reserve a table.

Whatever you do this Valentine's Day - have a good one!

I'm definitely a "keen bean" when it comes to Valentine's Day... Thai On The River is simply delicious.

There was once a rumour that the power station was going to be redeveloped with a restaurant in one of the stacks and just one table at the very top of that stack. Nonsense, of course, but for an ultimate romantic meal you wouldn't have been able to beat it!
