Imagine I am Smiling is set to bring grins to faces at the Camden Fringe Festival later this month.

Kaijah McMahon and Anoushka Arden, both 26, are starring in the observational comedy about three strangers forced together in an airport departure lounge.

Both graduated from Kingston University in 2005 and have since appeared on stage and screen. The talented pair has also adapted Imagine I am Smiling from the original concept by Stephen Long, which opened at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006 to critical acclaim.

Anoushka, from Battersea, and Kaijah will be performing alongside Tooting Bec actress Bethan Story, a graduate from North London’s Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

The show runs at the Etcetera Theatre, 265 Camden High Street, from August 24 to 26 with tickets, priced £7.50, available from the Camden Fringe Box Office on 08444 771000.

Kaijah, from central London, said: “My character is May, an airhostess who is flying away to escape. It’s fantastic to be performing with someone I studied with, in a show we have adapted.”

Anoushka added: “All three of us a really excited about teaming up for the Camden Fringe. I think the work we’ve done since leaving Kingston University, and appearing in Imagine I am Smiling, shows that the courses provide a great basis for people to go on and build careers in the performing arts.”

Bethan is a comedy writer as well as actress and can often be seen at the Funnyside of Covent Garden in the Bonanza Sketch Show. She explained: “The Camden Fringe opening performance of Imagine I am Smiling will be its London premiere. I’m sure the audience will be able to relate to it, particularly during the summer getaway. Imagine I am Smiling has three objectives, three women, one destination and one question I think we’ve all asked ourselves: will the plane ever arrive?.”
