If you've always wanted to try out the long jump, high jump and shotput, this Saturday's your chance to have a go for free in Battersea Park. Estate Athletics returns this week to the Millennium Arena after lots of adults and kids got involved last weekend.

It's been put on by the Battersea Fields Residents Organisation and the Sport England fund to rally the community after the recent riots, as well as get more people living on estates into sport - particularly women, children and inactive adults.

But we can all join in, simply sign up here.

Arnold Oceng from the film Adulthood and various past Olympians including John Herbert have shown their support for the project.

Battersea People went down and got these pictures of those taking part last week. Some of them chose to 'represent their country' in Jamaica and Sri Lanka shirts.

One woman said to me: "I came down to get the kids exercising and ended up having a go at some sports myself.

"I think we're so lucky that this opportunity's come our way in Battersea - it's a chance to learn something new while getting active or show off your skills if you're already sporty."

I had a go at the long jump and was totally useless. But no one cared, because the point was just to have a go and be active.

It all kicks off at 2pm, so potter down in some comfy trainers and join in the Estate Athletics, and you may win a medal.
